How will it end?
The world is certainly a place of conflict at the moment. It always was of course, but in the digital age the immediacy of war and where it’s being waged is exposed daily on our screens of choice. There’s no escaping the bombs, the destruction and rising death tolls but most of us are able to view the horrors from a comfortable distance. Not so those forced to live with them, like Ukraine has been doing since February 2022 when Russia’s president Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion – fully expecting Ukraine would crumble within a couple of days.
He’s still waiting.
For those curious about the history and relationship of these two countries, this book offers some answers. Although short it’s not an easy read for the average general reader, but it does provide insight into their uneasy relationship, the long-held ambitions of Putin, and the staunch and stoic resistance of the Ukrainian people, whose determination to resist becoming ‘Russian’ captured the attention – and admiration – of so many people.
Russia’s War Against Ukraine: the whole story is definitely worth a read.
