Anne Layton-Bennett

Island 119

The community campaign to stop the Tamar Valley pulp mill is central to the essay Writing for my life that is included in this 2009 issue of Island. It’s a campaign that has provided both writing material, writing opportunities, and publishing successes over the last 14 years, and it still cannot be considered over:

“. . . neither did we imagine the fight to prevent it happening might come to dominate our lives, be central to several state political scandals, or take five years. And counting.”
