Anne Layton-Bennett

From The Ashes

A poetry collection in support of the 2019-2020 Australian Bushfire relief effort. Edited by C S Hughes. (Maximum Felix Media) 2020

The 2019-2020 Australian bushfire season has seen unprecedented destruction to homes, to lives, and especially to to our bush creatures and the environment in which they live. There has also been an unprecedented effort to bring relief and rescue to the families, and wildlife whose homes and habits have been destroyed.

Australian poets have come together in this anthology, both to reflect our shared experience of the ongoing climate catastrophe, and to contribute to the relief effort.

All proceeds from this book will go towards bushfire relief and wildlife care and rescue charities.

Dear Mr Morrison

what will it take

what do we need to do

how long and loudly must we

berate you, implore you, plead with you

to act

to display some genuine

emotion and empathy

and sorrow for this conflagration

consuming our country? . . . . . .
